I like using metaphors to process experiences that help to integrate our mind, body, and spirit. We are going into a time of change that requires a “shift." When our bodies are standing on two feet, and we are asked to stand on one foot and then change to the other foot, we need to shift our weight and use our strong core to do so.
In this transition period, we are being asked to shift our weight temporarily. I believe we all have a strong core and spirit to do so, not because of the world around us, but because we are firmly planted in God’s Word. Pastor Luther’s time with us has helped to strengthen our core so we can “shift” with grace.
We have been working closely with our Synod representative, Pastor Mark Lingle, to determine what our transition will look like. We have secured a part-time interim and two supply pastors to shepherd us through this period.
Pastor David Yasenka will be our primary part-time interim. He is a retired Lutheran minister as well as the founder and a retired director from the housing nonprofit Isaiah 58 in Hampstead, New Hampshire. Pastor Yasenka will lead us in worship every other month, provide pastoral care, lead our Bible study, and attend our committee and council meetings. He will join us on Sunday November 30th.
We are happy to share that Pastor George Koch will support us in pastoral care, and Pastor John Corgan, who has served as our supply Pastor in the past, will preside over worship and complement the months Pastor Yasenka is not with us on Sundays.
These times call for flexibility and innovation. We have faith that this arrangement will serve us well as we await our new pastor.
