September 2025: Helping Maintain our Grounds

While the lawn needed less mowing due to the hot and dry weather this summer, there continues to be many repair projects and weekly maintenance items that have kept the property team busy. As Dave Mercer reminded us during his time as the property team lead, our building is aging and there are always things that need to be done to keep it clean, safe and welcoming.

Sacristy Water Leak: We received our insurance settlement and are now in the process of receiving quotes to replace the tile in the bathroom, upgrade the cabinets in the sacristy and to replace the defective water heater that was the source of the leak.

Tree Trimming: As the pictures below show, the trees around the property have grown since the new sanctuary and office space were built in 1995 (has it really been 30 years?). During the fall a tree service will prune some of the larger trees around the building and grind the two stumps along the driveway.

Fall Cleanup Day: There will be a fall cleanup day at the end of October when we will do projects inside and outside the church. It is always amazing how much we can get done in a short period of time with the many folks who volunteer to help.

Help wanted: The wooden sign along the road is faded and needs some TLC. If you have a steady hand and can help repaint the sign, please let a member of the property team know.

If you are interested in helping to maintain our building and grounds, please talk to any member of the property team or email propertyteam@htelc.com. While we normally meet on Thursdays, many projects can be done on your own schedule.
