Holy Trinity's Pastoral Candidate arrives on November 18 & 19, 2017

Dear Holy Trinity Members,

It is with great joy that we are announcing that a candidate has been recommended to the Council by the call committee, the council has approved the candidate, and the Council is recommending the candidate to the congregation.

The candidate will lead the service and preside over worship on November 19, 2017. There will be ONE service only at 9:30 AM. Following the service, there will be a special congregational meeting to consider the candidate for the position of Pastor to serve this congregation. A synod representative will preside at the meeting during which a congregational vote on the candidate will take place by paper ballot.

The meeting will take place immediately following the service. All confirmed members of Holy Trinity are welcome to vote. A two-thirds majority is required for the call of Pastor, and no absentee ballots or proxies are permitted. Only adult members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and youth who have been confirmed at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church are eligible to vote. If the call is approved, there will also be a vote on the recommended compensation package for the pastor. This vote will require a simple majority and may be decided by voice or hand vote. I encourage all members of Holy Trinity to attend in order to learn the process that the call committee followed, to understand the basis of their recommendation and to join in this important decision for the ministry of Holy Trinity. I also encourage you even if you are unable to vote to attend and get acquainted with the candidate.

Also, on Saturday, November 18, 2017 there will be a chance for you to meet the candidate and to ask questions. The Church Council will be holding a meet and greet session from 2:00-4:00. From 2:00-3:00 you will be able to meet the candidate and the last hour he will be available to answer questions. Light refreshments will be served.

On Sunday, November 19, following our meeting we will be holding a congregational luncheon.

If the vote to call the candidate is affirmative and the candidate accepts our call, we anticipate he will begin his ministry with us sometime in January. Pastor George and Pastor Grace will continue to serve as interim.

This is an exciting and long awaited time for Holy Trinity! Please continue to pray for the call process and for all members and friends of Holy Trinity. God has blessed this church and we are looking forward to this new ministry and we look forward with confidence that God will continue to grace us with gifts as we carry out His mission He has entrusted to us.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out to me our any council member.

Blessings,

Martha Belanger, Council President
