Hopefully the weather that we have experienced in the last few days means that Spring has arrived.
I think we are all ready to put away the snow shovels and take out the rakes.
Things here at Holy Trinity are moving along. The organ fund is doing great and it won’t be too long before we are ordering our organ and listening to the beautiful music Jonathan will be playing for us on it.
The Call Committee is doing a great job too! They have been very busy and continue to interview and meet with each candidate. It may seem like a long process and at times I will say it seems like a daunting experience to those on the Call Committee too. The Lutheran call process is unique because it is an effort to discern what God wants for us here at the local church and for the whole church, in order that the Gospel may be proclaimed and the sacraments administered in accordance with the Gospel. The foremost question for the Call Committee always is whether this is the person God is calling to this congregation to have as its pastor. Every meeting we include prayer for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the work that we are doing. We also are grateful for all the prayers from the congregation. We were given four candidates by the Synod. We will continue in the process of interviewing and observing them lead worship and preach. Only if the Holy Spirit guides us will we recommend one to council and the congregation. Being on the Call Committee is a very important task, maybe even the most important thing that one can do as a member of the church. It allows one to experience firsthand how the Holy Spirit works through committed Christians to help the church be faithful to its calling. As a member of the Call Committee we are given the opportunity to see how the local church is vitally connected to the whole church. It is also letting us participate in opening a new chapter in the life and ministry of Holy Trinity. I want to thank each and every one for your prayers and words of encouragement to the Call Committee. Also, thanks for your patience and understanding as we work through this process.
As grateful as I will be to be recommending a candidate to council I will be even more grateful that the Holy Spirit has moved us to do so.
May you all have a Blessed Easter!
