Women's Evening Bible Study of Revelation, March Post

Posted by on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 @ 10:53 AM

Our women’s Bible study of Revelation has been really different than I expected! Here are a just a few of my take aways: We are to honor God through ceaseless worship; How important it is to gain wisdom in God's Word in order that we may grow to be disciples of Christ clothed in His righteousness and to be able to identify false teachers/teachings; and that we either love God or we oppose God, there is no middle ground!

There are currently 9 ladies from Holy Trinity attending the Revelation Study, (Sue Bridge, Margareta Claesson, Sarah Cooley, Donna Elliot [of Milton], Ade Monareh, Lois Laurence, Nancy Oman, Sharon Stone, Elinor Young). I encourage you to talk to any one of these ladies and hear what God has taught them through His Word, and how their faith is growing and changing their lives.

Our last class for the Study of Revelation will be Thursday, May 5th. If you would like to register for the 2016-2017 study of ‘John,’ please visit one of our classes before May 5th. We welcome you to join us any Thursday evening at 6:45-8:30pm as a visitor, to see what a BSF class is like. Below is a brief summary of what we’ve learned in March.

God’s Perfect Justice and Mercy - Romans 3:10-20 Humanity is naturally unrighteous. Romans 1:18-32 People follow their natural desires and commit every kind of sin, prompting God’s wrath. Exodus 32-34 God’s perfect character is displayed through His justice and mercy. Romans 5:6-11; 6:23 Jesus Christ died for the ungodly. Review: Only God is able to distribute His justice against sin and His mercy through faith in Him. God acts in perfect justice and powerful mercy for His glory and the good of His people.

Rev. 17: The Woman and the Beast - Rev. 17:1-2 An angel told John he would show the punishment of the great prostitute. Rev. 17:3-6 The prostitute was identified as Babylon the Great. Rev. 17:7-14 An angel described the Lord’s victory. Rev. 17:15-18 The beast and kings destroy the great prostitute. Review: John saw the prostitute Babylon, the beast and Babylon’s destruction. Jesus will defeat all people and systems that oppose Him.

Rev. 18: Babylon’s Destruction and the World’s Response - Rev. 18:1-3 An angel proclaims Babylon’s downfall. Rev. 18:4-8 “Another voice” proclaims judgment against Babylon. Rev. 18:9-20 Kings, merchants and sailors mourn the fall of Babylon. Rev. 18:21-24 The mighty angel described the finality of Babylon’s fall. Review: Babylon’s fall causes many to mourn and God’s people to rejoice. Those who live for anything other than God will lose everything except His judgment.

Rev. 19: Praise for God’s Triumph - Rev. 19:1-5 The great heavenly multitude, elders and creatures sing “Hallelujah” to the Lord. Rev. 19:6-10 John saw and heard preparation for the wedding supper. Rev. 19:11-16 John saw heaven open to an immensely powerful image of the Lord. Rev. 19:17-21 The beast, false prophet and their armies gather to wage war against God. Review: Heaven rejoices in victory over the enemy. Jesus will return to conquer His enemies and claim His people as His bride.

Rev. 20: The Defeat of Satan and the Reign of Christ - Rev. 20:1-3 John saw an angel seize Satan and throw him into the Abyss. Rev. 20:4-6 John told of the reign of Christ with His people. Rev. 20:7-10 Satan will be released for a short time before being thrown into the lake of burning sulfur. Review: John saw the culmination of God’s certain victory over Satan and his forces. John saw Satan defeated and the resurrected who will reign with Christ. Jesus controls the consummation of all history and is the ultimate and final Victor and King.
